Why London is always a good idea

During my four and a half years with Emirates my most flown destination is London! I have 50 LHR’s under my belt and 10 LGW’s to date. It has always been my favourite city and how could you not fall in love with it, especially during February when the city is filled with Valentine cheer.

If you haven’t heard of Peggy Porschen Parlour or seen it on Instagram yet you must have been living under a rock! It is probably the most Instagram worthy spot in all of London for the girly-girls out there. Pretty in pink and nestled on the corner of a quiet street in Belgravia only a short walk away from Sloane Square, it is the perfect place for a tea or coffee and a sweet treat! fullsizerender

The cupcakes are like pieces of art and are surprisingly reasonably priced which is an added bonus! With outdoor and indoor seating it really does provide the perfect backdrop for a catch up with friends. Who knows you may even be lucky enough to meet Peggy Porschen herself who makes all the utterly delicious creations! Incredible themed decorations like the amazing floral Valentines heart are a feature all year round which adds to the stores charm. It definitely is the chicest bakery I have ever visited!

Covent Garden is also another one of my favourite spots in the city. Whether you want to shop or grab a bite to eat Covent Garden really has it all. On my very first trip to London Covent Garden was actually the station I arrived at. I wandered out with my suitcase and it really provided me with a great first impression of the city I was about to cherish. Throughout the year various installations are put up that are just incredible. Christmas time would probably have to be one of my favourites where giant baubles and mistletoe adorn the roof of the 19th century market building. I was lucky enough to also visit Charles Pétillon’s art installation of 100,000 white balloons called Heartbeat in the summer of 2015, which was in my opinion the greatest installation by far! For Valentines the market was bursting with pretty blooms, I especially loved that they set up a series of lovers swings which of course are also the perfect photo spot. Covent Garden Cupid indeed!

Fenwick department store always has the most stunning storefront displays not only during the Valentine season but all year round. I am always curious to see just how it will be decorated every time I happen to pass by while on Bond St. This year a wonderful burst of pink balloons welcomed you into the store. I couldn’t resist heading in for a quick browse with an entrance like that!

It is the perfect time for Florists to shine! As one their busiest days of the year, they do really bring out all the stops for the occasion. The best would have to be Lavender Green Flowers on Fulham Road in Chelsea. How amazing is the Love sign they created out of the most exquisite blooms. It gets even better when night falls as the whole cottage comes to life with love heart spotlights and the cutest little fairy lights intertwined between the blooms.

I have been fortunate enough to visit Sky Garden located on the 37th floor of 20 Fenchurch St (otherwise known as the Walkie Talkie) three times since it opened back in 2015. It has fast become one of my go to spots to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. Make sure you book well in advance though as public access tickets are free but are quite hard to come by. Bookings open 3 weeks prior to a set date, so get in early and secure your spot to experience the best views in town!

Eddy and I were lucky enough to secure tickets for Valentines Day itself and treated ourselves to a delicious Valentines breakfast while enjoying incredible sweeping views over London. With two restaurants and two bars within the gardens you’re spoilt with choice. I especially liked all the themed cakes that they had available at the bar which we enjoyed with a spot of tea!

Scattered around the city were rose trees with the sweetest little love notes and sayings attached to them. This particular one had cute little cut-out love hearts on all the cards – absolutely adorable! Little touches like this that you discover while roaming around the streets just make me fall in love with London even more.

Thank you to my love Eddy for spoiling me beyond belief this Valentines! The best boyfriends are the ones that put up with being dragged along to the most girly destinations in town just to make their loved ones happy.
